Monitor Display

I have a new Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 17" - one of the last available, it would seem. Great monitor.

I ran my previous 15" monitor at 800x600, so I thought I would try the next resolution up for a bigger screen. However, this places my Wallpaper in the centre. Selecting the "stretch" option, it becomes distorted and still does fill the whole screen area. Selecting tile gives four "pictures" with four PC logos.

Is there any way around this?

By the way, why is everything in XP so much smaller than W98SE at the same resolution?

set your res to 1024x768 and then adjust your monitor menu so that it fills the screen or if the monitor has auto adjust then just press that .

It is possible that the dimensions of the image you use for wallpaper are 800x600 in which case you will need to load it into an image editor and resize it to 1024x768

Cannot seem to adjust to fill screen.

Don't understand the reference to Image editor - can you clarify, please?

Again, WinXP certainly seems to have smaller fonts than W98 on the same monitor.

An image that is 800 x 600 pixels will fill an 800 x 600 screen. But on a 1024 x 768 screen you will have a border as it will fill the inner 800 x 600 pixels.

To get the image to fill the screen without distortion you need to get a 1024 x 768 version of the image.

Increasing the size in an image editor may still lead to distortion.
