Having upgraded from Windows 98SE to Windows 2000 Pro on a separate drive, my Motorola Speakerphone SM56 pci Modem won’t now operate!
I have downloaded the recommended software driver from Motorola’s site, which loads in okay but doesn't seem to actually set up my Modem. When I look in the Device Manager the SM56 Modem is highlighted by a yellow exclamation mark. On opening its Property box the Modem is marked as “Not Working Correctly -Code 10”, yet the new Driver is shown as installed. I have reinstalled everything and followed routine instructions to no avail.
If I revert back to the Win 98 drive the Modem still works fine - its driver installed from an old CD that came with it. A point I noticed under Win 98/CD set up is: it first downloads the main driver and then a Wave Device for the Voice Modem. Under the Win 2000 set up the download doesn’t later set up the Wave Device?
