Modem information corrupt

My computer crashed and I formatted and reloaded. All went well until I came to set up my Internet Connection. I am running Windows Me. The Modem appeared to be faulty so I uninstalled and reinstalled the modem and the drivers but when although everything appeared to be OK when I checked the "Porperties" tab I received the message"The modem properties cannot be displayed because the Modem information is corrupt". How can I solve this problem? Help!!

Un-install and then Re-install all modem software and drivers.

I have installed and uninstalled perhaps five or six times over the past twenty-four hours to no avail - installing modem and drivers in every format I could think of!

Eileanbeag, have you tried disabling the adaptor for the modem, then rebooting so that Windows recognises the modem again?

No where do I disable Adaptor from?
