Modem connect speed.

  leedaz 13:41 05 Oct 2005

Just bought a new internal PCI modem (Intel chipset) but it will only connect at 31000 and downloads very slowly 3.09 Kb/s. any ideas how I can speed this up ? Thanks.

If it's a V92 try loading old V90 drivers, as some ISP never upgraded to V92 so it will default to slower speed

Thanks woodchip but not sure how to do that. Windows says it's Intel 536EP Modem, the model no. on box is VPI56SPA. Yes it is V.92 (Whatever that means) sorry for the dim-ness but can someone point me in the right direction.

leedaz 16:47 05 Oct 2005 mention ISP. just using Virgin PAYG. Can someone suggest another ISP which might have upgraded??

Are you 98 or XP

May be a good idea to try another PAYG ISP incase there is a prob on your current ISP. There are ISPs that you can use without registering first. Someone might be able to give you a site. David

Drivers Select Operating System before downloading click here

OS is Win2k Pro ...Yes David I think that might be best rather than mess with drivers. See previous thread which is why I bought new modem !!
