mixing vista and xp

Am I trying the impossible ?

I had two PC's (one a laptop) sharing internet connection by the simple expedient of unplugging the ethernet cable from one to the other. This cable connected either pc to my Home PC which had internet connection. All three PC's used XP service pack2. I have now upgraded (?)the laptop to Vista Home Premium and if I manage to connect this to the internet it resets (I assume) the settings on my Home PC which prevents my XP using the internet. Is it possible to mix and match the three machines ?

Get a modem/router from your ISP. If you would prefer LAN use a modem and cat5 cables. You say in your thread 3 PCs?. The LAN setup is more secure because you are not broadcasting. I have 2PCS one XP the other vista, using the LAN system, allows to use the internet at the same time. Regards Aine
