missing windows file!

  [DELETED] 10:41 15 Dec 2003

When I run Norton windoctor to check for any windows problems on my system, it says that the file: newdev.dll is missing and that C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\driver9x\install.exe may have to be reinstalled. What does this all mean and how could I fix the problem. My system seems to work ok despite the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

It may be a driver for a 3DFX Voodoo Graphics card. It could be that your display is using the generic windows driver rather than that supplied by the manufacturer.

Re-installing the graphics driver may help.

I used to have a 3DFX Voodoo graphics card but changed it some time ago for a Creative labs 3D Blaster 4MX. If the file is related to an earlier card I'm wondering why not having the file on my system is only now showing up as a problem. Any help appreciated

It shouldnt matter as its in the Temporary folder, i clear mine out reguarly, and get errors like that. The program should fix it auto! Is your computer still running smoothly?!

If that's the case and if your system seems to be running normally I wouldn't worry about it. It's probably a redundant entry in the Registry that Norton has picked up.

Sorry, didn't refresh before I posted and failed to spot your post.

For some reason Norton doesn't seem to be able to fix it but it seems like it's not important. Thanks for the advice.
