Missing Toolbar Icon to minimise all Open Windows

  boot-it-out 12:53 19 Mar 2004

Windows XP Pro on a Compaq nx9005

I have somehow managed to "Lose" the Desktop Icon - the one which usually sits on the toolbar next to the Start button, which minimises all open windows to quickly access the desktop.

Any ideas on how to get it back ??

Many thanks.

First open the C:\Windows\System folder and ascertain whether the 'Show Desktop.scf' file is still there. If it is, just right-click on it and choose Create Shortcut, then drag the shortcut to the Quick Launch area of the Taskbar. Right-click again and choose Rename – enter 'Show Desktop' as the new name.

If the file is nowhere to be found then this link will tell you how to recreate it click here

Do a search in C:\Documents and Settings for 'Show Desktop' to find it.

Many Thanks Eric - I must have deleted the file somehow - now restored and working !

Ididn't realise how often I used it until it had gone!

If you right click the taskbar then left click toolbars then left click quick launch this will put it back for you
