Missing NTLDR

I have fitted a new Hard Drive on Boot UP it is picked up but when I go ti install windoxws xp it comes up NTLDR missing press ctrl+ alt+del
what is NTLDR I have formated the drive before use

The disk needs ot be in the drive on bootup. If it was then the PC cannot pick up the install file and the disk is unusable.

Other wise it is to do with how you have set up the hard drive, which from the description is more likely. Go into the BIOS and check that your hard drive has been identified...

A silly question, but you should set bios to boot from the XP DVD first, with drive c second .

Are you doing this?

Clean install windows XP

You must set the BIOS to boot from CD save and exit an boot the PC with the XP CD in the drive. then follow the prompts to install XP.

I have changed to BIOS so I boot up from CD on setup it tells me it cannot copy p3.sys or ks.sys I stop installing at this point does this mean my CD Windows is damaged?

clean the drive with a lens cleaner and polish the CD and retry.
