Missing memory!

Wonder if anyone can help. Have discovered that on my mother in laws computer windows is reporting only 97780kB of memory (resulting in the software for the new broadband modem refusing to install). When I check in the BIOS though it is eporting 128MB Ram installed. Anyone any suggestions what might be causing this discrepancy?... probably explains the computer has been running slow for a while though!

with that amount of memory installed i am surprised the PC starts up, it will but the rest will be running on fresh air, the discrep, may come from onboard graphics which will be allocated from the memory you have installed.
If this PC is capable of upgrade 512Mb is absolute minimum these days...
