Microsoft works Can i update for free to MS Works8

  skidzy 22:24 06 Mar 2006

This may sound silly, but i was wondering if i can update Microsoft Works Word Processor from 6 to either 7 or 8 for free.
Ive noticed it costs around $50.00 for the MS Works 8
Any Ideas would be gladly appreciated
Thanks in advance

Well I've never known MS to do free updates of their payware products.

I think they'd do updates and patches to a current version (if it's registered with them) and may offer a special upgrade price when they bring out a new version. I didn't think you could upgrade to a completely new product for free, but the Works site appears to offer some hope click here

Why not switch to Open Office (free open source download supported by Sun Microsystems) from click here

It's better than Works Suite and the spread sheets and word programmes are compatible with Excel & Winword.

Also, you can buy Sun Micro's Star Office Suite for less than M.S. charge.
