Hi folks, bit of a strageone here,

have just built a new PC (mega 865 home entertaiments since you ask)

All fine, on network, connecting to internet through host PC as it should.

Tried with and without fire wall.

Can't connect to microsoft website. IE
Windows updates, hotmail, messenger etc.

Can connect to everything else, including here and Yahoo mail.

Any ideas?

Cheers, Epirb.

Is there an error message or what happens?

  Epirb406 21:36 13 Oct 2004

Nothing specific, just the usual page cannot be displayed page, offering to detect my network settings and all that malarky.

Any ideas?

But no go!

Any other ideas out there?

Been pondering this one and it seems really weird, even switched off firewalls to try and cure!

Cheers, epirb.

It's a long shot but have you checked your hosts file? Something may have hijacked it to keep you away from Microsoft! There is a smashing host file reader/editor click here

have downloaded and run the host file reader but find myself rather short of knowlege of what to do with it!

Any clues on this or anything else that maybe causing this.

One thing that just occurs to me is that this is a mega bare bones PC which has onboard card readers so the main hard drive is F: Can't reall imagine this is the problem but.....? No other clues!!

Cheers, Epirb.
