Microsoft Outlook

I have this set up on two computers in different locations using the same email address. the problem is i cant seem to view the same emails on both computers. once one of the computer downloads the new emails they seem to only appear on the one computer and not on the other.

why is this? is it becase outlook downloads the emails from the server and saves them onto the computer. if this is the case how do you view emails on both computers?

If you are downloading your emails to personal folders it is possible that your personal folders are locally stored on one of the PC's and therefore you will only be able to see the emails on that particular PC.

Are you using Outlook Express or 98/2000 etc.

What ISP are you using?

You are right they download to whichever machine calls for the e-mail. What you need to do is set up one machine to "Leave a copy on the server" which you will find in Tools > Accounts - highlight the relevant account and choose Properties. Go to the Advanced tab and under the delivery section at the botom tick the box.

This means that one computer can download all mail but if you are at home over the weekend for example you can view new messages but leave them for the office machine to download them fully.

in Tools, Accounts, Account Properties, Advanced tab, check the boxes at the bottom:
Leave a copy of messages on server
Remove from server when deleted from Deleted Items.
