Microsoft Money under Win 7 64 bit

  iscanut 12:08 31 Mar 2015

I have had to reformat my drive and have had Win 7 64 bit installed. No problems with programs or hardware EXCEPT my good old workhorse Microsoft Money. This will not install on 64 bit. Does anyone know if there is a way of getting it installed now or is there a similar program available that is plain and simple to use and preferably free !

Are you using this version - click here - it has just installed OK on my W7 64bit PC.

I have used Microsoft Money for many years now and it has installed without problem on varieties. I have carried over Money 2003 for since its inception without problem. It is currently working under Win 7 32 bit and also under Win 8.1.

Could not get on with Jollyjohns Money Plus Sunset.

At first I did not like Money Plus Sunset but having taken a little time to trim the junk I now have a working useable program. Changed to this because my copy of Money 2000 would not install on W7

You don't say which version of Money you are trying to install. Money 2005 certainly works on my Windows 7 64bit PC.

Not too helpful, but I have Money 97 - yep, 97 - installed on a 32-bit W7 machine. It works fine.

You could try this MMEX. I've been using it for a few years now,it's free cross platform and works on Win7 64bit.

There's also GnuCash which I've tried, also very good free cross platform but it uses double entry accounting which I found confusing. It's here if you want to have a look.

Just for information, I'm using Money 2003 with Windows 7 64 bit. It installed easily, and works fine.

Thank you all for your responses. In view of the fact that most of you had no problems with 64 bit, I Googled the problem which was The AUTORUN.INF file is missing or corrupt. The solution was a short and easy Registry tweak whic worked, so I have now reinstalled Money 2005 on my PC running in Win 7 64 bit. So the problem was not 64 bit at all !! Thanks.
