Microsoft Access

  discdrive 00:28 13 Jan 2007

I am trying to burn a database using record now programme.
But when I put the disc in mine or an other computer, it will not open to be able to enter data because it says it is read only.

I have saved it to a pen and it works OK from that, but when you email the database it does not open again.

I have set the macros to there lowest security levels.
Microsoft Access 2003 is the system I am using.
Any Ideas greatly appeciated.

Many Thanks
This discdrive is burning out!!!

Any data saved to cd-r is read only on the disk, if you then copy the file (database) ie dbaseA.dbx to a harddrive, you must select this file in windows explorer (or file manager of choice), right click, choose properties, then untick the 'read only' box (at the bottom). This should then allow you to alter/add data.

Hope this helps.

If using Windows XP (and i suspect discdrive is as they specify Access 2003) then you don't need to do the above normally as XP automatically wipes off the Read Only attibute when copying from a CD to a PC.

However i also suspect discdrive is trying to open the database from the CD directly which you can't do as the CD is read only.
