Microphone not working

I have now have had windows 7 running on my HP pavilion dv9000 laptop for a few months now, I am due to go away in a few days and have thought about using Skype, however it would appear that my microphone is now working, so I assume I am missing the drivers for it, I also understand that HP are not offering support or drivers for windows 7. Is there anywhere I can get the driver or get the microphone to work?

Try this; if you right click on the sound icon in system tray and select 'recording devices'. In the window that opens, under the recording tab, right click on blank space and select 'show disabled devices' and ' show disconnected devices'. If you have stereo mix enabled then disable it. Right click on microphone and select 'set as Default Device'.
