I unistalled MSN messenger and XP messenger from my computer.

My contacts still receive notification etc when I am on-line (even when I am not).

Has anyone got any ideas what could be causing this.

Possibly someone else has gotten access to your username and password. Try changing your password on a computer with messenger installed and then see if your contacts still get the notifications.

While we're on the subject, my messenger 6 keeps changing the display picture to random ones in the list. It's not because someone has my password, i changed it. lol, weird, eh?

Go to the Task Manager/processes if you see msmsgs.exe, this could be your problem. In the 'C' drive Program Files/Messenger. Set the Tools/folder/options/view, to show hidden files & folders.
First end the process in task manager then rename the file in messenger to msmsgsa.exe, if this solves the problem either leave or remove it if no other problem recurs after a few days.
