How do I stop message on startup which says: "unable to boot application"

It may help us to help you if you can elaborate on this query. Does this happen as soon as you switch the pc on? Does this happen before or after you o/s loads up? What o/s are you using, XP, 98, 2003, etc.? IS this the full extent of the error message or are there any error codes attached?

I have XP.Happens as soon as pc is switched on and icons are on desktop

What applications do you have running at start up?

Check by Sart - Run - type msconfig - look under startup tab.

and which one isn't running?

you can stop them from running by unticking the box.

DO NOT stop your antivirus or firewall.
