Memory problems ?

PC details, AMD Phenom quad core 2.5 Ghz. 4Gb ram. Operating System Vista Ultimate 64 bit. Graphics card Nvidia Geoforce 8600 GT with 1Gb ram.

I have 4 hard drives all with plenty of spare capacity. 3 of which have been set up as scratch disks for Photoshop.

I use the pc primarily for Lightroom/photoshop work. This is where my problem arises, most of my files are a over 150mbs. After processing several of these files all which have been saved, my pc almost grinds to a halt. Closing down Lightroom & Photoshop still leaves the pc in an almost unusable state.

This problem only arises when using Photoshop, with the pc running very fast otherwise. Almost forgot all the scratch files settings are set up as per Adobes specifications.
Any help in this matter would be appreciated

Have you looked under Processes tab in Task Manager to see what is hogging the CPU -I would suspect anything to do with Adobe as being a CPU Hog!
