hi,

a friend of mine bought comp from HP one year ago. he didnt even know that his got 256MB memory because the system shows that there is only 192MB. can anyone tell me how is that possible? i tought its bios or wrong memory card. i havent looked in the bios yet. he would like to upgrade his memoty to another 256MB but will the comp. accept it? its DDR SDRAM he had.

can anyone tell me how to solve this prob and as well about the upgrade???

thank you

64 mb is used by the onboard graphics.

If it has on-board graphics, that's where the "missing" 64 MB is.

click here and use the Crucial Memory Advisor™ Tool

No the BIOS reserves the 64 mb so the 192 is correct.

so what is the model of his pc / or use Everest click here on his pc to find the model of the motherboard.

If you run click here it will tell you how many memory sockets there are and how many are empty. This will tell you how many sticks of RAM you could add. Then e-mail Crucial - they are very helpful in my experience.
