Memory block & Paging failure on CD rom

  [DELETED] 16:33 20 Dec 2003

Can anyone please explain what these mean?
I check my eventviewer and an error came up on the cd rom. It reads:
Symbolic name IO_ERR_BAD_BLOCK
The device %1 had had a bad block. The device has a bad block of memory which windows attempted to read. The data may be missing or corrupt.
An error was detected on %1 during a paging operation.
An input/output (I/O) request to a memory mapped file failed and the operation was retrievd.

Does this mean my cd rom is faulty? Please help.

the cd itself is damaged or corrupt.

should have asked, does your drive play and burn discs ok?

if its only one disc giving the error then as above.

a few damaged or cheap quality discs i have had in the past give this error in device manager when the drive has difficulty reading it.

the cd rom plays and burns disc okay. I have the cd writer tested by the manufacturer and is tested okay.
The cd plays discs okay

note the time and date displayed for the error.does this coincide with a certain disc that was giving you trouble at that time?
