Mem stick - write protected?

My new memstick - Kingmax 128Mb USB2 - used just a couple of times, has suddenly decided that it is "write protected'.
How do I reverse this?

I know it sounds easy, but is there a little switch on the side to lock/unlock it?

OK, OK, thanks Octal. And thanks also for not adding "dummy!" in your reply. We live 'n learn.
The gadget has a clear plastic 'pip' which is lit from the internal LED; I was not aware that it also functioned as switch as there is no lock/unlock symbol. The instruction may have been on that bombproof blister package it came in...
