McAfee Viruscan on Line and Frontpage 2000

I have used FP2000 for many months on a Windows 98SE system with no problems. The system having McAfee Viruscan with manually downloading of the DAT files. However having recently loaded Win98Se onto a new machine along with MS Office and FP2000 I decided to go with McAfee Viruscan on Line. This has resulted in a conflict with FP2000 in that if I wish to view a new page on the Browser which is IE6 from the PC Advisor disc I get a complete hang of the machine. This happens whether I go through the browser button on the tool bar or via the drop down menu. Ctrl-alt-del shows up that Mcupdate is not reponding and will not respond. In the same way I cannot now publish the website directly from FP2000 without first going on-line where as before clicking the publish botton on the toolbar would bring up the Dial Up Connection window. I suspect I have a Registery problem which I do not have the experience to fix without some advice please.
