My computer runs window 2000 srv pk 4, recently I installed a 200gb maxtor hard drive and when I formatted it, it would only format to 131gb. when I put the drive in a friends computer it allowed me to format the whole 200gb, when it was put back into my computer windows said that it was corrupted and I then had to format it back to 131gb before it would work again. Is this a known problem with windows 2000?

only XP with SP1 above can handle big baby

work around:

(1) partition it into two or more partitions

(2) Maxtor has software to overcome this problem, you can download from its website

Have a look a the windows 2000 section click here This may get you over the 137gig limitation. Also your bios must report the full size of the hard drive.
