max payne is a max pain!

  [DELETED] 13:35 19 Dec 2003

I have just bought Max Payne for my computer, but it crashes before it even starts (you get a loading picture, then it goes back to the desktop). I have a time athlon 2400+ with an ATi radeon 9200 128MB graphics card and 512 RAM. I have tried updating XP, but still to no avail. And before you ask if I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling it, I have.

Any help will be gtratefully excepted,

I had a similar problem, and updating my graphics card driver cured the problem (nVidia in my case).

because max payne 1 isn't compatible with xp according to the system requirements, but i ran it on xp no problems, but not everyone is so lucky

there is a patch for max payne 1 which can resolve this problem..

if its max payne 2 then that is xp compatible,

one thing you can try

set your dektop resolution to the same as the game

goto control panel/display/settings

and goto the game options/display (if you can) and set it to the same

this works sometimes

It's Max Payne 1 and I have updated my graphics card and installed the v1.05 patch. I am going to look at updating my motherboard drivers next. The problem is I don't have a clue what it is, so if anyone can supply a program so I can find out, I'd be grateful

Control Panel

Device Manager (If XP go Hardware - Device Manager)

+ IDE/ATA controllers or Hard disk controllers

In there is:
and Via/Intel/SIS/Ali/Nforce etc...

Whichever it is, is what you have
