Low Level Formatting

If memory serves, you can only Low Level format a SCSI drive, if you try - and succeed - in low level formatting an EIDE drive it will become a very small lump of scrap. I don't know the technical reason but it's something that is done in the factory which is written to the disk to make it usable by Joe Bloggs and if you low level format this information is destroyed and is not recoverable. Maybe this does not apply to modern drives but it's worth noting.
