In XP how do I stop all the desktop icons from moving once I arrange them?

There's a neat little program called Iconoid. You use it to save the icon positions you want - then at any time you can set it back if they change. (after a resolution change, for instance.

You should right click on a clear area of the desktop, select `Arrange Icons By` and tick `Align to Grid`. Make certain `Auto Arrange` is NOT ticked.

You can then place icons where you like but they will be tidy and when you shutdown the PC it will remember where you put them.

Thanks everyone, I'll try the two mentioned.
I already have Align to Grid selected johndrew but if I rearrange them then the next time I start the PC they're back where I moved 'em from!
