Local Access with wired connection.

I'm hoping someone can please help me.

I recently installed a broadband connection in my home. However while this works perfect with other Vista laptops in my home when I try to connect my Acer vista laptop is say local access only unidentified connection.

I tried to run a diagnostics, windows cannot seem to identify or solve the problem. I know its not the network adapter itself ( if theat is the right word, I'm not computer savvy) because other vista laptops in the home can connect no problem.

I'm hoping someone can help me in layman's term i'll be greatly apprectiative.

Most of the time when the local access only comes up I have found it is bacause Vista thinks or you have told it you are connecting to a Public network

Try deleting the connection and set it up again during the process you should be asked the type of network you are connecting to it is best to select a home network from the three options given

have found that deleting the network profile and then setting up a manual connection is another possible solution.
