XP - Boot from the CD and follow the prompts.

ME - You will have to use a boot floppy and use fdisk to partition and format your HD prior to install

What command are you typing?

Are you booting from a Win98 start up disk?

At a: go to
C:
md win98
cd win98
<c:\win98> copy d:\win98
setup
I get band command or file name.
Just had a thought after formating drive i will have lost my drivers for CD.

Hi good link.

In Bios
boot section there is
Quick Boot, Try ohter boot devices,

Boot 1 2 3 Options are many but the ones that apply I think are floppy, CD, IDE-0 1, 2, and 3.

also scsi, networking USB-FDD and two Zip options that dont apply here I think.

I have disabled all but Floppy and CD and its not ready reading drive E?

There is also swap floppy and seek floppy.

If your installing W98 or WME it is no good just formating you will have to create an active partition, put the floppy into the drive and boot and choose without CD Rom support on the A:\prompt type fdisk and choose create active partition when this is done it will ask do you want to make the partition active choose YES.
Put the W98 or WME disk in drive leave the floppy in on reboot this time, choose with CD Rom support and press enter on the A:\ PROMPT TYPE dir/w press enter on the A:\prompt type setup and your away.
If you want WXP you will not be required todo any of the above as XP will do it for you.
