Recently my HDD went bang, and i dont have a backup drive.

I have heard of so called `Live` linux distributions, but here is my question.

Can i boot a Live Cd without a hard drive in the machine, and can anyone reccomend a suitable distro for me, an a link (where possible.)

Thanks

make sure the bios is set to boot cd.

is there any (smaller) distros that have the same functionality?

if you mean that my bios checks for boot record from cd before booting, then yes, if otherwise, please explain.

dunno those are just the two I've used. If ya want to mail me an address I'll post a couple of disks to you tomorrow. Click the yellow envelope.

Yes that's what I meant, check that it will boot from cd.
