Links that open a new window stay blank....

  gixerp 23:29 21 Jul 2003

I dont know if i have changed something or not but just recently, when i click on a link that opens a new window (like the 'Click Here'in some of the replies on here), all i get is a new window with nothing on it. Nothing in the address bar at all.
If the link is txt i have to right click, copy shortcut and paste it in the address bar.... But if its a picture I cant do anything. . . & its a pain..
Anybody got ideas on what I have done and how I go about getting back to normal??

Copy and paste:

Into the IE address bar remove the spaces and press enter. Await your answer...

Is it Windows 98?

If so sounds like you have a problem with Oleaut32.dll and need to restore it from your orginal disk.

Click Start, Run and type in SFC. Type in where applicable you want to replace oleaut32.dll from C:\win98 or N:\win98 (where N is the CDROM drive letter on your PC) and let it do its thing.

Reboot and you should have the problem solved.

Powerless' link should be:

Think about it...

"Links that open a new window stay blank...."

If she clicks your click here, he/she will see nothing.

"when i click on a link that opens a new window (like the 'Click Here'in some of the replies on here), all i get is a new window with nothing on it"

I feel Powerless! It was the wife's fault for bringing me in that mug of tea right in the middle of it.

This is the content of the 'click here' given above:

To resolve this problem in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
Quit all programs that are running.
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below):
Shell32.dll (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)
If the problem is still not resolved, verify that the following registry values are present and correct:
Name: (Default)
Value: IDispatch
Name: (Default)
Value: {00020420-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
Name: (Default)
Value: {00020420-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

I had exactly the same problem. Here was the solution for me. Thank VoG...he was the one that helped me all those months ago. I dont think the link in the thread still works though. If no one else helps you perhaps try to speak to VoG himself. Hopefully he will not mind me suggesting this!!

Go to "Start" then "Run" put regedit in the box and click OK. Back up the registry before you make any changes.
