Lexmark Z32 not printing

  ITBuffoon 13:51 09 Jul 2006

Any chance anyone can help me with a printer problem?

My sister gave me an old Lexmark z32 printer, and
I've tried to get it going on my Win ME PC.
Although the test page printed OK, now whenever I try to print
something, all I get is a message box saying.....

"Printer not ready"
"Cannot communicate with printer. Please check printer or user's guide"

Although I don't have the installation CD,
I have downloaded and installed the Win ME drivers.

To note.............
I don't really need colour printing,
so have only put a b & w cartridge in. Is this significant?
I've only tried to print black text.

I don't know the printer but it may possibly work if you put a colour cartridge in.

As BurrWalnut says. Most printers that I have had experience with will only print if both cartridges are present. (even is one of them is empty).

Mind you I think you are on a loser with Lexmark, the replacement ink cartridge prices are horrendous. They cost more than buying a new printer.

1 try reinstaling the driver or goto lexmarks website for the driver for windows me put colour cartride in printer
2 if its usb like mine it might of packed up but no worries it will work with parallel cable like mine
3 best of luck
