Lexmark Printer Problem

I have a Lexmark Z54 which has performed faultlessly for past 3 years. Today it was completely dead. No power light came on or any kind of light. The mains adaptor was hot so obviously the mains fuse had not blown. Is it worth replacing the mains adaptor with a cheapo Universal type to see if that is the prob or do I just cut my losses and bin it?

you can pick up a reasonable printer for less than £45 if you shop around - I did. Just a thought.
