Lenovo Service Engine Prevents Startup

  Newuser939 16:06 10 May 2018

I have a Lenovo All-in-one,which has behaved perfectly for almost three years until today. When I went to start it up this morning, nothing would persuade it to go past the Lenovo splash screen. After a lot of googling, I found the suggestion to go into the Bios and disable "Lenovo Service Engine". I have done that and it is now working perfectly again. But why would that stop the computer starting up all of a sudden? I understand that that function no longer appears in Lenovo computers because of a security risk, but that is a different issue.
