Do any of you have suggestions for books or web sites to help me get the best from it

I find "Windows XP Instant Reference by denise tyler publisher sybex" to be very usefull £16.99 in the UK so not cheap but very comprehensive.

Try using XP for dummies I used it for windows 98 and it is excellent. Written in a language you can easily understand.

If you are able to visit PC World or Staples etc, then you may find XP interactive training CD packs by BVG or similar companies. Average price around £9.99-£12.99. All worth consideration.

Another one is 'Windows XP in Easy Steps'. The Easy Steps series are great, I have a few of them.

Like Andybear I too like the "In easy steps" series and they do one on XP (£10.99 I think). But on this occasion I bought "Windows XP explained" pub. Babani at £6.99. It's fine if you have upgraded from an earlier OS, but wouldn't be so good if you're starting from scratch.

Your already in one of the best places to learn about XP,PCA has hundreds of things to do in XP,and also includes thousands of "fixes" if you manage to break it. :-)
