Who were the updates from, does not sound like Microsoft

  jack 11:37 15 Feb 2009

How are updates distributed?
Kevscar does not mention his O/S
Certainly my XP Pro has not had an update of late.
At least not of the messages one gets at close down- [ Of the 'Click here to load' sort]

Just checked it was Microsoft
update for Media centre for Vista 64bit machines. KB960544
Just e-mailed them but I suggest do not install this.

KB960544 downloaded via MS update on 2/10/2009 (last Tuesday).... no problems here!

  sunnystaines 12:11 15 Feb 2009

no updates for xp pro media centre this end may have been withdrawn.

  cocteau48 12:16 15 Feb 2009

Sorry ... only on Vista machine.
No update for KB960544 on the XP machine.
You should not have been offered this through MS update if you are not running Vista.

  Kevscar1 12:58 15 Feb 2009

I am running 64bit VistaHome Premium. Only poeple with 64bit will recieve it

  cocteau48 13:16 15 Feb 2009

You will see from the MS page click here
that both the x86 and x64 downloads carry the same KB No.
As I said I've had no problem with the d/l to my 32 bit machine.
