Laptop Touch pad Doesnt work

  Phoenix40 19:51 07 Nov 2014

Hello i have a quite new laptop with Wins 8.1. I noticed the other day when it starts up after a short while the touch pad no longer works the cursor remains fixed. But when i put a USB mouse to the laptop the cursor works fine. But when i go back to the touch pad the cursor wont move. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Hope for some help thanks.

something is conflicting with the touch pad drivers

earlier on this site someone found that Winamp was causing the conflict.

If you don't know then you haven't got it install and therefore that's not your problem

Its a music playing program similar to Windows media player.

Try going ino device manager and uninstalling the touchpad - rebbot and let windows find and re-install it. see if that helps.

Thanks i will try that. Is it called a touchpad in the Device Manager? Could there be a conflict with my USB mouse when i insert it into the laptop? Let me know thanks.
