Laptop stops while starting.Need help !!!

I have IBM P III thinkpad laptop.It's not booting.When I turn on it,It's check ram & suck on that screen.If computer can access to CD rom I can format it install new OS.Can someone tell me how to fix this problem?

Sounds like either the Power supply is duff, or, and more likely, that the CMOS battery needs changing - that laptop is quite old!

On this laptop, changing the CMOS battery is Not straightforward, but should be easy enough if you can download a Service manual.

The battery on a thinkpad
is usually located on the end of a 2 or 3cm wire with a 2 prong plug, tucked under the plastic flap inside the memory compartment. Turn the machine upside down and pop the small access hatch on the back to the memory compartment, and fish around on the sides for a 2 wire set, and gently pull.
