laptop shutting down by itself

  antony-332406 20:55 24 Feb 2007

A friend has a problem with her Acer aspire 3000
, running XP
it for no apparent reason just tirns off, with no warning, she has up to date Norton antivirus, and has run full scans, which come up clean.
it turns off while on mains supply, so it doesnt seem to be a battery problem
any ideas anyone?

Sounds like the power adapter matey you checked it off another power supply?

Or overheat are the fans running hard when it shuts down?

she tells me that the battery is charged, so surely it would run off the battery if the mains supply was intermittent?

Try running without the Battery, Just on mains. That's all I use. I only fit the battery if I am Going away.

Wouldn`t do any harm to check Power Options in Control Panel in case someone has messed about with settings.
