Laptop recovery disks...

I have 2 acer laptops but can only find one of the supplied recovery disks,. Are they unique to each machine, or can any Acer recovery disk recover any Acer laptop?

When I bought my Acer it didnt actually come with a recovery disc from Acer. The first thing you had to do was to burn your own recovery disc.

Yes they are unique to model, there will be different drivers for each model.

Thanks for that, looks like I'll have to do a major cleanup on the lost disk one.

I lost this post, I forgot how fast this forum rattles through the threads.

Have a look in System Tools. If you didn't make a Recovery disc, the facility may still be there.

To make a recovery disk, follow these steps:

To back up default recovery keys to a floppy disk
Click Start, click Run, type mmc, and then click OK.
On the File menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in, and then click Add.
Under Add Standalone Snap-in, click Certificates, and then click Add.
Click My user account, and then click Finish.
Click Close, and then click OK.
Double-click Certificates - Current User, double-click Personal, and then double-click Certificates.
Click the certificate that displays the words File Recovery in the Intended Purposes column.
Right-click the certificate, point to All Tasks, and then click Export.
Follow the instructions in the Certificate Export Wizard to export the certificate and associated private key to a .pfx file format.
