i have a compaq presario celeron 2.0 Ghz which i want to upgrade. i dont know what the fastest processor i can install is however. i have run a program called cpu-z which tells me (i think) that the current processor is 478pin with a front speed bus of 99.7Mhz and a bus speed of 398.7Mhz

does anyone know what i can upgrade to - the faster the better

thanks

On a laptop?

Your best seeking professional advie on that, well the installing.

As for the max cpu what's your motherboard?

But usually a RAM boost is better and noticable then playing with the cpu.

I don't know the specifics of your machine but I would doubt that you will be in a position to make any drastic improvement - even if the processor increases by 20%, it will be negligible - ie up to 2.4GHz.

Are you having any paticular troubles with it? If it is a general slowness, it may be down to an overload of software, too much junk files and so on.
