Hi Please assist,I have an HP255 laptop which I opened to check what kind of RAM it has and if I could possibly upgrade it.After opening the back panel,I took out the RAM and put it back on again but when switching the laptop on the screen is blank and doesn't come on.Could I have stuffed up something?I made sure everything was put on back as it was. Thanks

switch off unplug and remove and refit the memory and then retry to boot.

When you took out the RAM - did you take antistatic precautions? If Fruit Bat /\0/\'s suggestion doesn't work, you may have accidentally fried the memory...

Oh, and. btw - there are easier ways of checking on memory upgrades than taking the machine apart. Find the manufacturer's specification, and that will usually tell you type of memory and maximum memory capacity. You can also run the scanner from Crucial to tell you what you need. It took me five seconds to find this.

DDR3 SDRAM (1600 MHz) or DDR3/3L SDRAM (1600 MHz)5,7 Two slots supporting single channel memory 2048/4096 MB SODIMMs, up to 6144 MB total
