Laptop HDD to Caddy/Enclosure

Hi All,
I have removed an 80gig hard drive from a broken 4yr old Evesham laptop(broken hinges)not cost effective to repair, and hope to use it in a caddy. I have been looking at ordering one but not sure what type to order, IDE or SATA. How do I know what type the HDD is? and can anyone recommend a caddy/enclosure.
I would also like to remove the CD/DVD writer and place in a caddy if that is possible. If it can be placed in a caddy how do I go about removing from the laptop as I cannot see how it is held in place.

You could also Google for caddies for your CD/DVD drive, and also for a Service Manual to show you how to dismantle.
