laptop hard drive

i was wondering if anyone could tell me if you can use a laptop hard drive in a desk top.
i am thinking of getting a larger harddrive for my laptop & thought i could make use of the old harddrive

Only way is to put it in a USB2 Laptop caddy and run it through the USB3 socket. Did not know they did them above. But I got a caddy from Computer Fair for £4.99
