Laptop getting hot!

Hi Folks

My nephew has a HP laptop about 3 yrs old. Working perfectly except that rcently he notices it's getting a little hotter than it should! Just wondering if it's the fan and if so what can be done about it. He mentioned something about blowing cold(?) air through it.....

any advice, or is this a major problem if its the fan going?

It may be the fan coated in dust. Places like Maplins sell cans of compressed air for this - make sure you use a cocktail stick or something similar to stop the fan spinning as you blast the area with air.. Keep the aerosol upright to avoid liquid spraying into the beast!

get a vacuum cleaner on the grills to suck out all the dust and muck.
