laptop freeze on boot

when i switch my laptop on with my usb broad band connection from a router it freezes on the first screen. its a dell inspiron 5100 and the bar that goes from left to right freezes about three quarters fo the way through. f2 of f12 or n e other buttons have no effect.. but when i take the usb out and restart i t loads no problem.. can anybody advice me on this please. thanks.

What happens if you start it up, then put the USB wireless connector in?

it just works and connects to internet no problem

If it works properly if you put the USB connector in afterwards, why not just do that?

Or am I missing something?

See if reloading the drivers makes any difference. They may have come on a CD.

Otherwise, I'm afraid that it's just one of those things.
