LAN Networking/Router Connection Problems

Iam running Vista Home premium on a Sony Vaio desktop. I keep getting Display Manager Error also, although in device manager there are no !'s or x's on any items and my LAN adaptor is working normally, I cannot get the os to reconize my LAN adaptor(part of the motherboard) or router even when I try to reinstall with the AOL/Netgear setup disc Can any one offer any suggestions or help?

What operating system are you using. If your lan connection is on the motherboard then the driver will have come with the motherboard drivers disk. Do you know what motherboard you have?

Sorry just read your post again and see you are using vista home.
When you say your OS is not recognising your network adaptor do you mean that it is not showing up in device manager?

In device manager, have you tried updating your LAN adaptor driver software?
