Kouwell 571A Ultra DMA 66/100 Controller Snag

I've just fitted the above card into one my PCs so I can make use of a Western Digital 20Gb HD I have spare. (All existing IDE slots in use).

Drivers installed ok and no problems can be seen in System Device Manager, however, Windows (98SE) does not show the drive in My Computer.

The only way I've been able to get it recognised, is to check the 'Removable' box for the drives settings and assign a drive letter.

Can someone explain why this is happening?

Thanks in advance,

Click Start/Run

Type "Sysedit" without the quotes

Click the Config.ini tab to bring forward the window

Look for a line that states
Last drive=Z

If it's there it's not the cause, if it isn't type it in, save the file (File/Save) and reboot.
