Not a lot to say about it - it's a compendium codec pack comprising K-Lite Codec Pack Full, QuickTime Alternative, and Real Alternative. It also includes some extra features: BSplayer and ffdshow.

Personally I use K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.33.

They'll both play even the most exotic formats.

1.33 is just the latest version - these things are updated pretty regularly although the changes are usually very minor.I happen to have 1.33 as I revamped this PC last week and did a fresh XP installation.

You probably know that all codecs do is make it possible for whatever media player you use to play varying formats of audio/video files.Very much an 'install once and forget about' background kind of software.
