Can anyone help me please?
My XP is working ok and I can use the cursor for program operations etc. but I cannot enter any text in Search or for Run instruction nor will f8 work to get me into safe mode. My Recovery CD disk is ignored and boots up from shut down as normal.

Can you do a system restore to a time before you had the problems.

Or - close down your computer completely, wait 30 seconds, then re-start.

System Restore was the first thing I tried. It restored ok but the problem remained and the same with the 30 second switch off.
Today my mouse no longer works!

Battery for mouse? What type of mouse?

  Woodman2 07:31 29 Jun 2008

It`s a standard ball operated mouse. I hadn`t thought of a battery! What I meant was the cursor would move around ok yesterday, now it`s stationary in the centre.

Maybe try another mouse.Or delete the driver and reboot the computer see if that works.

Is this a cordless keyboard and mouse?

If so, they can cause problems. Change batteries as suggested, and if that won't rectify the problem, then buy a corded keyboard and rodent!

Thank you my friends. A new mouse solved the problem.
Thanks again.
