Java/Byte Verify Virus in AdAware?

  Fruit Bat 15:02 13 Jun 2004

Have downloaded the latest update for adaware when I run it my AVG resident shield tells me I have:

Java/Byte Verify Virus in several AVG files all ending in .class

However running complete test in AVG (with latest virus sig) finds no virus.

Anyone else having this problem?

I had this problem a couple of weeks ago and found the answer on Google.
In short refer to this webpage click here

As AVG could not find it in the normal way I deleted the infected file.

Any problems post again.

Hi Fruit Bat

to add to the above, do a search on your machine for Byte Verify and delete it (or them)from that file. I should say delete the file. I could give you the address of mine but it may not be the same as yours. I forgot to mention but turn off System restore before doing this and then turn it back on afterwards and if running Ad-Aware shows you to be clean then save a Restore position. I should perhaps emphasize that the virus or trojan is NOT in Ad-Aware. Apparently it shows up because Ad-Aware caches your files before checking them and at that stage AVG can detect the infection.

Thanks roy

Folowed your advice and finally tracked down offending files. Took awhile as tucked way down in some zip files.
